Four documents spanning 2011–2016 reveal Epstein actively managing the narrative around allegations against Barak:

Epstein emailed Landon Thomas Jr. (NYT financial reporter):
"now that strauss kan girl will be shown to be a total liar, maybe your paper should jump on and show that [victim's] allegations re andrew are the same, she also accused numerous people of having sex with her, dersh, ehud etc. not one newspaper had the balls to question her credibility"
This email is significant for two reasons: (1) Epstein privately acknowledged to a NYT journalist that Virginia Giuffre's allegations included "ehud" — confirming awareness of the specific Barak allegations; (2) Epstein's media strategy was to weaponize the Strauss-Kahn accuser's credibility issues to discredit all victim allegations simultaneously.

In a detailed email to Landon Thomas Jr. (NYT), Epstein prepared defense talking points through his ex-girlfriend as a prospective witness:
"she knows clinton was never on the island. she knows no sex with steven hawking, she knows no sex with ehud as he was also never on the island."
This document is remarkable: Epstein specifically curated a defense for Barak alongside defenses for Clinton and Hawking, prepared through a potential witness, and delivered to a NYT journalist. The defense rests on two claims: (1) no sexual contact with Barak, and (2) Barak was "never on the island."

Epstein emailed Michael Wolff in a discussion of allegations:
"ehud barak on a gulfstream with five secruity guards looking the other way. ? all ludcrous."
Epstein ridiculed the idea of Barak engaging in misconduct on a private plane while accompanied by security. The defense is logistical: Barak's security detail would have prevented or observed any improper conduct.
Multiple documents show journalists fact-checking claims about Barak's breakfast visits during UN General Assembly Week. Epstein's network managed these inquiries, confirming or deflecting as needed.
These four documents reveal an 8-year arc of Barak-specific defense management:
The progression from acknowledging (2011) to preparing a witness (2015) to media dismissal (2016) shows Epstein was actively curating Barak's defense across multiple years and through multiple channels (NYT journalist, Fire and Fury author). Notably, Epstein's 2015 defense explicitly claims Barak "was never on the island" — directly contradicting the Mail on Sunday's Item 12 allegation.
WHAT THIS SHOWS AND DOES NOT SHOW: Epstein actively managed media and defense narratives around Barak across 2011–2016, using NYT journalists, book authors, and prepared witness points. The "no sex with ehud" / "never on the island" defense was specifically curated. This does NOT establish whether the defense was truthful or the allegations accurate — it establishes that Epstein treated Barak's defense as a personal priority requiring active management.
