[v3.0 UPDATE] Web research confirms Avi Gil served as Chief of Staff to President Shimon Peres and as Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1999-2000). Gil was a senior diplomatic figure with direct access to Israel's highest political offices.
