The SDNY's pursuit of Interlochen Center for the Arts spanned 20 months (February 2020 through October 2021) across 3 separate subpoenas documented in 20 EFTA records:
February 6, 2020: AUSA Maurene (likely Maurene Comey) sends first subpoena seeking Epstein/Maxwell records. Interlochen instructed to keep request confidential. (EFTA00017055, EFTA00020844)
February 12, 2020: Second subpoena with non-disclosure order -- specifically targeting student records. (EFTA00026849, EFTA00026863)
March 8, 2020: SDNY asks whether production included "ALL records of any tuition payments that Epstein (or his entities) made for ANY students at Interlochen." (EFTA00020844, EFTA00032131)
April-October 2020: Attorney Jeffrey L. Jocks (Sondee, Racine & Doren, Traverse City) delays -- COVID cited. Response: "Interlochen only keeps tuition payment information for 7 years and nothing in their files reflects any payments by Epstein or Epstein entities." SDNY not satisfied. October-November 2020: SDNY arranges call with Jocks. AUSA "Alison" joins team. Multiple prosecutors on call. (EFTA00019133, EFTA00019142, EFTA00020889)
January 2021: Additional calls scheduled. SDNY still pressing. (EFTA00019032)
March 26, 2021: Third subpoena for "additional student records." SDNY tells Interlochen they may notify students (who are "now adults") but must NOT disclose to third parties. (EFTA00019493, EFTA00019582)
April-May 2021: New document production. Jocks: "Attached is what went in the mail today." (EFTA00022997, EFTA00024672)
May 14, 2021: SDNY requests "color copy of the photograph on page 87" -- a photograph exists in the Interlochen production. Interlochen does not have a color version. (EFTA00023182, EFTA00025018)
October 22-25, 2021: SDNY wants records custodian to testify at Maxwell trial (which began November 29, 2021). Government exhibits GX-741 through GX-745 sent to Jocks/Besselsen for review. Neo4j mining reveals additional detail from the GX exhibit chain: EFTA00019438 shows a November 19, 2021 email from SDNY to Daniel Besselsen referencing GX-742 and GX-743. EFTA00089962 shows Interlochen asking whether SDNY also wants "summer Camp years application" for the GX-742 student. EFTA00089960 shows Besselsen sending "743_(added_pages).pdf" and "742_(added_pages)_.pdf" plus a photograph (IMG_115...).
WHAT THIS SHOWS AND DOES NOT SHOW: The 20-month subpoena chain establishes SDNY's sustained interest in Interlochen's records. "No tuition payments" was the answer to one specific question -- other records WERE produced, including at least one photograph. Five government exhibits (GX-741 through GX-745) were prepared for the Maxwell trial. Students referenced are described as "now adults" (were minors when enrolled). A non-disclosure order was issued. This does NOT establish whether any criminal conduct by Interlochen personnel occurred. The expansion of Interlochen's legal team to include George Donnini (Butzel Long) suggests the institution treated this as serious.
