[GRADE A2 — EFTA02550627 / EFTA02681472 (Epstein jmail archive, VOL00011)]
On February 10, 2012, an email with subject "Sultan" was received by Lesley Groff (Epstein's executive assistant):
Dear Lesley I am in Peru today I have to be in brazil by tomorrow then Surinam I am trying to be in
The body preview cuts off. The email appears in two separate drops (EFTA02550627 and EFTA02681472), confirming it was captured in multiple archival passes. The subject line "Sultan" and the content pattern (reporting multi-country travel to Groff) are consistent with Sultan bin Sulayem as the sender, matching the later 2016 emails.
The Peru-Brazil-Surinam circuit describes a rapid multi-country South American tour. This three-country sequence is geographically unusual: Peru (west coast), Brazil (east coast), and Surinam (northeast coast) require significant air travel. The combination suggests either: (a) a ports/infrastructure business tour (DP World evaluates port investments in all three countries), (b) diplomatic meetings, or (c) personal travel coordinated through Epstein's office.
WHAT THIS SHOWS AND DOES NOT SHOW: The email documents that someone (likely bin Sulayem) was in Peru and reporting multi-country South American travel through Epstein's executive assistant. It does NOT establish Epstein's involvement in the travel or its purpose. The use of Groff as the communication channel is notable — she managed Epstein's schedule and correspondence, making this a business communication routed through Epstein's infrastructure.
