¶ PART 6: THE COVER-UP -- Evidence Destruction and Investigation Anomalies
GRADE A1 -- FBI internal communications, NARA correspondence, OIG records
- August 10, 2019: FBI seized 18 hard drives from MCC NiceVision Pro CCTV system server rack (EFTA00075837). Electronics Technician removed drives.
- August 14, 2019: Technical update reveals miscommunication between MCC, FBI, and NiceVision due to personnel transitions (EFTA00017950).
- August 19, 2019: FBI Collected Item Log documents 500GB Seagate hard drive containing video from DVR1 (EFTA00094984).
- January 10, 2020: FBI discovers July 23 video was corrupted on DVR 2. Internal email: "Make sure this write up is good before I send over to HQ" (EFTA00146823).
- June 21, 2021: FBI evidence label for "Master Copy" of archived MCC video images (EFTA00008474).
- Maxwell trial testimony: "Three copies of that hard drive" existed "with no information about why there were three copies" (doj-ogr-00013084).
Email archives document chronic camera issues throughout 2018-2019 with subjects including "Pearl Street Camera," "SHU Cameras," "Camera Issues," "Camera Footage" (EFTA00126255). Internal meeting notes acknowledged "Limitations of SHU video" (EFTA00035827).
In April 2025, the National Archives and Records Administration received an allegation of unauthorized destruction of FBI Epstein files:
- EFTA00173330: FBI internal emails forwarding NARA request. Subject: "Request for assistance in investigating an allegation of unauthorized destruction."
- EFTA00172158: NARA letter dated April 1, 2025, citing 36 CFR 1230.14(a), requesting FBI response within 30 days.
- The request was routed to Counterterrorism Division Branch III and OGC/CDC -- unusual routing for a sex trafficking case.
Multiple CHS operations documented:
- CHS S-00070259 (EFTA00128842): Reports on Boris Nikolic and Southern Trust wire fraud (Dec 2021).
- CHS S-00099701 (EFTA01245117): Reports on Epstein/Maxwell trafficking (Jul 2020). Same CHS provides intel for "2020 Election Influence Threat Assessment" (case 8041-LA-3315657) -- dual-use intelligence source. Contact via encrypted messaging app (EFTA00090314).
- CHS S-00019639 (EFTA01245106): Reports on "female who went to Jeffrey Epstein's island" (Jul 2020).
- SECRET//NOFORN classified CHS document exists in corpus (EFTA01683612).
CID Significant Case Notification dated February 21, 2025 (EFTA00164459) confirms case 90A-NY-3151227-4036375 was reactivated or still active. The notification describes "fabricated noose" and "series of protocol failures by MCC personnel, as well as technical failures/deficiencies." A separate August 2025 FINCEN query (EFTA01654346) shows the financial investigation continued six years after death.
WHAT THIS SHOWS AND DOES NOT SHOW: The destruction of July 23 video, NARA investigation into unauthorized file destruction, chronic camera failures, and unusual CT Division routing are documented facts. The 2025 CID case reactivation and continued FINCEN queries establish that the investigation was never conclusively resolved. However, the documents do not prove the destruction was deliberate cover-up versus institutional incompetence.
